About
BIO
Egle, born in 1986 grew up in Vilnius, Lithuania. Her artistic enquiry started at the age of six when she began playing piano and enrolled to the state music school where she trained as a pianist for over ten years. She moved to London to pursue her creative career in visual arts where she started experimenting with film medium and performance and gained a BA degree in Media Arts.
In her early professional career Egle worked within the realms of fashion, culture and science directing commercial films and designing audiovisual installations. While working commercially, Egle has been in pursuit of her personal practice which led her to do an MA in Fine Art at the Royal College of Art, London where she graduated in 2016.
ARTIST'S STATEMENT
There is something intangible that lays underneath dramatic layers of every narrative. The story itself is a mere extract from chaos - filtered, organised shaped and sculpted form in time. The chaos and intangibility is what I am pointing to depict during the process of making work.
Themes in my work come from concerns about human nature - consciousness, thought, emotional and physical experiences and the co-existence with the perceived world.
I speak of multidimensionality and interconnectivity of disparate layers such as the human body and objects, body movements and patterns of fundamental natural forces. I look for correlation, conversation and friction between those dimensions to raise awareness of the symbiotic nature of all things.
